BlogCFC 5 is Gold

It's done. While there are still some things I want to do, I've decided to wrap stuff up. I just did a final checkin to SVN. I'll be posting a more complete post on my main blog, but for SVN users, you can get latest and enjoy the crispy goodness. I'll also be talking a bit about post 5.0 releases there as well, so if you want to know about the next sets of updates, go there.

Aaron West's Gravatar ray, this is definitely cool stuff. thanks to you, scott, charlie, and all the others for the hard work. i have the beta version of blogcfc5 running on my localhost for the Nashville ColdFusion User Group. I'm updating it now to the 'gold' version and will soon (prob a week or two) push this live to our site on CFDynamics.

Couple recommendations (these may belong in the galleon forum):

-Allow blog edits/creation to blog users in admin
-Currently, only new posts are e-mailed to the subscriber list. What about adding the ability to send e-mails when edits are made?

Raymond Camden's Gravatar Aaron, your first idea doesn't make much sense to me. Can you clarify?

For the second idea, I'd definitely recommend against it, especially since most edits are typo fixing. I don't think most folks would want to get multiple emails.

Aaron West's Gravatar In my first suggestion, I am talking about the ability add and edit the users in the tblUsers table.

For my second idea, yea I guess you are right. I didn't think about all the typos people may edit. Perhaps then, it would be feasible to have a checkbox called 'Force Notify' or something where the blog owner could determine when a significant update occurred and force an e-mail to be sent to the subscribers. We do this kind of thing in our ticketing system at work and it is very useful. Just an idea. =)

Kevin Ford's Gravatar Awesome work Ray!!!

I did notice one small bug that I'm sure you're probably already aware of... when editing an entry, sorting the list for related entries by date sorts them numerically versus by date (ie. 12/01/05 appears later than 3/1/06). Very minor though. Thank you very much for all your hard work!

TIm Lucas's Gravatar Any upgrade instructions for v4 -> v5?
# Posted By TIm Lucas | 5/17/06 12:28 AM
Raymond Camden's Gravatar Look in the readme.txt file Tim.

Tim Lucas's Gravatar I had already already checked the readme.txt but didn't notice much.

Are the upgrade instructions the part that read:

Files: Pretty much every file changed.
Database changes include the following: ...

??

Raymond Camden's Gravatar Right, so you want to copy all the files basically, and follow the instructions for your db.

Tim Lucas's Gravatar Cheers Ray... I'm upgrading someone else's install, hence the hesitation. Looks as if there's been a fair few customisations to the front end... will have to diff from v4.

Thanks for all the work in this new version!
