BlogCFC Update

I blogged about this on my main blog (see here), but I wanted to make sure folks new to update to the latest BlogCFC as soon as possible. Security firm ProCheckup found some XSS issues and I've corrected them.

Frank's Gravatar I had downloaded a test version some time ago. After installation, the admin side suggested I update. For some reason as of 2010-05-26; 03:38 PM EST blogcfc.riaforge.org is only feeding me the file "blogcfc524.zip". Can you look into this or suggest an alternative URL?

Raymond Camden's Gravatar That is just a file name - nothing more. Do not be concerned by it.

Tim's Gravatar I have not been able to locate documentation on how to update blog.cfc to the latest version. I tried diffing the files and then merging in my customizations but there are some database differences as well. The SQL script appears to give you a blank database, could you point me at the documentation for how to upgrade from previous versions while retaining existing content, look and feel, etc?

Raymond Camden's Gravatar The readme file always describes changes between each version. In general, it is just a list of changed files. This way you know what to copy over. If something else needs to happen, then the readme will tell you what to do.

Big fan's Gravatar I have downloaded BlogCFC and it is nice. Only issue is with RSS ,it is not working on IE6. I have now used new coldfusion tags for RSS why don't you use same for your blog website.

Raymond Camden's Gravatar Can you explain what you mean by it not working? RSS is not meant to be viewed in the browser. Its an XML language. IE6 may not like it. Modern browsers will try to render the XML, but in general, it isn't meant to be shown.

Russ's Gravatar I was looking through the documentation before I gave it a whirl, I came across the step in the installation process where you need to go to this address http://www.adobe.com/go/6ef0253 and follow those instructions. Is this still necessary with CF9, Mysql 5, and the latest version of blogcfc all working together?

Raymond Camden's Gravatar Nope, should be safe to skip that step.
